When it comes to vintage and antique clothing, special care should be taken when looking at sizing. Sizing today differs greatly to what we consider a size 10 from our mothers and grandmothers in their day. Vintage sizing varies so much, not only from decade to decade, but also country to country and manufacturer to manufacturers.
The bust, waist, hip and garment length measurements are provided in centimeters for each garment, and any further measurements can be given on request.
A special note to consider, if you are taller in height you may want to check the neck to bust point measurement, often women from previous eras were shorter and this may impact how a vintage piece fits over the bust area.
To measure a garment - lay it flat on a firm surface such as a clean table and use a quality dressmakers tape measure. Measure seam to seam across the bust, waist and hip while flat and then double the measurement for the total body circumference.
Please note - the measurements give are actual garment measurements, it is recommended that you allow extra room for wearing ease.
If you need assistance in how to measure yourself or how to gauge whether the garment you love will fit, please do not hesitate to contact Coco Repose for further assistance.
